Today is the Kentucky Derby and I’m probably one of the only people who are appalled at the idea of watching.

Sure, I love sports and am always seeking out fun events. But I feel like horseracing should not be celebrated.

I view horseracing like I view hunting: it’s not a fair match up. In hunting, the animals don’t have guns. And in horseracing, the horses do all the work.

Are you telling me that the jockeys really do that much? If you are, then the horses must not “love” racing, like everyone tells me. Because if they did, they’d do it without a person sitting on them, whipping them repeatedly.

Is it ironic that the Kentucky Derby is held the day before “Be Kind to Animals” Week? I think not.
