Massive Changes To Local TV News In Western New York

More changes are coming to local television here in Western New York. Several employees at WKBW were let go this week as the company made massive layoffs across the country.

8 Employees To Be Let Go From WKBW

E.W Scripps, one of the largest TV companies in the country, announced layoffs across the company, including here in Western New York. 8 employees at WKBW will be without jobs after the layoffs are completed at the end of the month. News anchor Pheben Kassahun is one of the 8 employees who are set to be laid off.

These moves come after long-time morning show co-anchor Katie Morse announced she would be leaving the station for a job outside of media.

She posted on her social media that August 14th would be her last day at Channel 7 before she leaves to become the Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.

Buffalo Meteorologist Gets Scared Live On TV

It was quite the morning live shot for WGRZ Channel 2 meteorologist Patrick Hammer. While doing a live shot, he had a surprise guest pop up on camera, which led him to flee the shot.

The good news is that the spider was well away from the station, and apparently has been a guest on the show before. I will say, I don't blame Patrick for running; spiders are VERY creepy.
