Kick Off Summer Paddling Yourself Down The Buffalo River – Free
Today notwithstanding, this week, the weather will be perfect if you want to get outside and enjoy the sunshine. If you're anything like me, you love being on the water. Or, at the very least, around the water. So how about a bit of paddling along the Buffalo River in a kayak? For free!
Riverworks has an event happening all week, where they're giving away free kayak rentals. For the 21-and-over crowd, the first 50 kayak rentals of the day will be free as part of Labatt Lake Days.
You know it was a long winter, made even longer by the pandemic with even less to do than usual. Plus, you had to be indoors so much more, which made things even worse. So this is a great idea that simply makes sense. Not only is it a way to get Buffalonians back out into the community, but chances are pretty good it's going to introduce a bunch of people to all the things you can do at the waterfront.
Last year my fiance and I got into kayaking, totally by accident. We happened to take a bike ride to the waterfront and rented a couple of kayaks on the spur of the moment. It was fun, relaxing, and so much fun that we bought a couple this year. Let me rephrase - we're in the process of TRYING to buy a couple this year. Not shockingly, much like everything else, finding kayaks in stock is a challenge.
So if you're looking for a bit of adventure, you want to try out kayaking or even explore Buffalo's waterways and get out and have some fun on the water, this week may be your chance. And, you can do it for free!
