We are just 23 days away from Buffalo Bills regular season football again.  Leading up to the opening game, we'll be counting down by featuring former and current players.

Today's featured player is Micah Hyde.

While plenty of big names have worn the #23 for the Bills including Marshawn Lynch, Aaron Williams, Troy Vincent, Kenneth Davis, and more, we will be focusing on the current #23 for this one.

Where's he from?

Micah Hyde was born in Fostoria Ohio in 1990 and played football at Fostoria High School.  While he was there he played quarterback, defensive back, punter, and even place kicker for that team. He was also a star on the baseball and basketball teams. Obviously, colleges were knocking at his door when it was time to move on to college.  He was heavily recruited by multiple schools but chose Iowa He's got an older brother named Marcus who also played safety in college.  While Micah went to Iowa, his brother played at Michigan State

Professional Career

Micah was drafted in the 5th round of the 2013 NFL Draft.  He was the 159th pick and was chosen by the Green Bay Packers where he played for 4 seasons.  In those 4 seasons, he only missed one game in 2015.  He started every other game.

The Bills were able to grab Hyde in March of 2017 and he has been a huge part of their defense ever since.  He was signed for 5 years at $30.5 million.  Then prior to the 2021 season, he signed a contract extension worth $19.25 million that will have him signed through the 2023 season.

Favorite Plays

Hyde has made a ton of huge plays that stand out including knocking a Philip Rivers pass down against the Colts that helped the Bills secure their first playoff win in almost two decades.

Bills fans still remember when he returned an on-side kick against the Dolphins to put that game away in 2019...

But holy cow, is this one of the most impressive interceptions ever...when the Bills took on the Patriots in the playoffs, Hyde made sure that the Patriots wouldn't score on his watch:
