The end of Game 3 between the Buffalo Sabres and Montreal Canadiens turned into more of a fight than hockey game, and now some of the players involved will be paying for it.

NHL Announced Fines For Buffalo And Montreal Players

The NHL Department of Player Safety announced that two players involved in scrums at the end of Game 3 will be fined by the league. Both Montreal’s Arber Xhekaj and Buffalo's Beck Malenstyn have been fined by the league.

Xhekai was fined $3,385.42, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for roughing Buffalo’s Sam Carrick. The NHL said this was roughing, while I think this is a total cheap shot and he should of been suspended as well.

As for Buffalo's Beck Malenstyn, he was fined $3,515.63, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for goalie interference against Montreal’s Jakub Dobes. This in my opinion was also a cheap shot as Malenstyn never attempted to stop while being pushed towards Dobes.

Both players will be able to dress and play in tonight's Game 4 in Montreal. I have a feeling that it will be another chippy game, and we will end up having plenty of extra pushing and shoving along with a fight or two.
