Buffalo Sabres Take 3-1 Lead Over Bruins After Dominant Win In Boston
There are a lot of words that can be used to describe how Buffalo has played hockey in Boston, Massachusetts, but perhaps the best way to describe what the Sabres did to the Bruins in Game Four of the first round in the 2026 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs is "dominant."
For the entire 60 minutes of hockey on the ice, Buffalo put on a hockey clinic against Boston, in a game that looked like the NHL Sabres were playing against the Greater Boston Junior Bruins (instead of a professional-level team).
The Sabres got started early with the offensive dominance in the 1st penalty by scoring not one, but four goals in the opening period.
Peyton Krebs, Josh Doan, Zach Benson, and Bowen Byram all put the puck in the net during the first 20 minutes of play, giving the Sabres a big 4-0 lead going into the first intermission.
The Sabres led the entire game and did not let up at all during the second period of play.
When the third period of play started, the Bruins tried to mount a comeback, but Beck Malenstyn & Alex Tuch made sure that Boston had a lot more work to do as they added two more goals, giving the Sabres a 6-0 lead.
Things were so bad for Boston that they decided to pull goalie Jeremy Swayman after he let 6 goals into the back of the net.
While the Sabres reminded the folks in Boston what real hockey looked like, it wasn't all bad for the Bruins as they snuck in one goal against Alex Lyon with just around 40 seconds left in the third period. If they had another 60 minutes to play, that goal might've been the start of a comeback.
After this big 6-1 win for the Sabres, both teams now head back to Buffalo for a pivotal game five, which could see Buffalo moving on to the second round while the Bruins could be heading home to work on thier golf game.
