Summertime is officially here in Western New York and there are a ton of events that are now scheduled throughout the next few months as Western New York gets back into the swing of activities.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced last Tuesday that most state-mandated restrictions have ended and that means many people will get back to normal activities this summer. One of those activities will be the Erie County Fair, which will take place from August 11-22 at the Hamburg Fairgrounds.

Tickets will need to be purchased ahead of time, but masks will not be required at the fairgrounds will operate at 100 percent capacity.

Another big event happening will be the Billy Joel concert that takes place on Saturday, August 14th at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park.

It was just announced today that the concert will also be at full capacity and additional tickets will go on sale this Friday.

That means the Billy Joel show will take place on a day and evening that the Erie County Fair will happen. The fairgrounds close at 10 pm, while the concert will begin shortly before that time...so chances are we will be dealing with some heavy traffic in the southtowns that evening.

Highmark Stadium is just a few minutes from the Erie County Fairgrounds and many people will be driving in both Hamburg and Orchard Park between the hours of 4-11 pm...if you aren't going to the fair or concert that night, it's probably best to just avoid that area altogether.

I know it's pretty fair out (just under two months), but I lived in Hamburg for a few years and it can get pretty congested just from the fair...now add a huge concert a few minutes away at the stadium and you have yourself a traffic nightmare.
