It was just over a year ago when the Buffalo Bills handily defeated the Broncos and sent Denver back to the stables in Colorado, and now these two teams meet again in the playoffs to determine who will play in the AFC Championship.

The Denver Broncos, who earned the number one seed this year, have a lot to prove against the Bills after that embarrassing defeat they had last year. But Denver isn't the only team with a chip on its shoulder, as the Bills also have a lot to prove this year.

After earning a playoff appearance for the last seven straight years, but not advancing to the Super Bowl in more than 30 years, people are questioning if the time of the Buffalo Bills has passed. Well, this game will help answer that question for both teams, depending on who can come out with a victory.

The Bills and Broncos Battle Hard In Denver

Things got started quickly for Denver, who received the first half kickoff and put the first points on the board with Wil Lutz kicking a 28-yard field goal to give Denver a 3-0 lead. The Bills decided they needed to score on their first drive as well, which saw Mecole Hardman catch a 4-yard touchdown pass from Allen.

What started as a close game quickly turned against the Bills after two second-quarter fumbles allowed Denver to go up 20-10 at the half.

The third quarter didn't start much better for the Bills, as a third Bills fumble and Josh Allen's first interception of the playoffs allowed Denver to add more points. But that was where things started to turn around for Buffalo. The Bills were able to take a 23-10 deficit in the early third quarter and take the lead 27-23 in the early 4th quarter.

Touchdown catches by Keon Coleman and Dalton Kincaid, a Matt Prater field goal, and gritty play by the defense put the Bills in position to win the game.

As the Bills started to grab the momentum, the Broncos said they weren't just going to lie down, and Bo Nix stepped up to throw a big 26-yard pass to Marvin Mims for a touchdown to give them the lead with less than 1 minute left in the game.

Some last-minute heroics from Josh Allen put the Bills in position to tie the game, and Matt Prater knocked down a 50-yard field goal to send this game into overtime.

Once in overtime, the Bills weren't able to put the game away. After two big defensive pass interference calls against Taron Johnson and Tre'davious White, the Broncos' Wil Lutz was able to kick a very easy 24-yard field goal to give Denver the victory.

Now, with the Bills' season over, the team looks forward to moving into the new Highmark Stadium to start the 2026/27 NFL Season.
