What Josh Allen Did at Practice Today Proves Why He’s Beloved In Buffalo
The Buffalo Bills are wrapping up training camp with the last open practice before the regular season begins on September 12th.
The Bills are practicing this afternoon at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park with fans in attendance and quarterback Josh Allen was the star of the show, to nobody's surprise.
Allen has now made it a tradition to spend time with kids before practice begins by playing catch with them in the stands. He tries to throw the ball to as many kids as possible, and Matt Bove of WKBW captures Allen tossing the football around with kids at Highmark Stadium today.
Allen did it a few weeks ago at the Bills open practice on August 7th.
The Bills roster is all set with the team cutting 23 players from the active roster as they had to get down to 53 by 4 pm on Tuesday.
Tight end Jacob Hollister was the most surprising name to be let go as he was signed as a free agent in the offseason.
Bills general manager Brandon Beane said in a press conference today that Hollister is not being planned on being brought back like long-snapper Reid Ferguson, who Beane said was cut but brought back today after they placed rookie wide receiver Marquez Stevenson on injured reserve.
Beane specified that they went heavy on the defensive line (keeping players at that position), so that means they had to make tough decisions elsewhere, and that's why Hollister was let go.
According to Joe Marino of Locked on Bills, only cornerback Nick McCloud was claimed by another team today before the noon deadline, which means the Bills will be able to keep pretty much all the players they want for the practice squad.
Beane added that they feel good about the injuries to wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie and defensive tackle Harrison Phillips. They could be available for week 1. Stevenson will not, however.
The Bills are just 11 days away from the home opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
