According to WIVB, the State Thruway Authority announced on Thursday that drivers who don't use E-ZPass will pay 30 percent more when driving through the new cashless tolls.

The decision will not be finalized however until the Thruway Authority holds public hearings on the changes.

According to the Thruway Authority is meant to "support the statewide conversion to cashless tolling, set to be completed by the end of next year."

The 30 percent toll increase would start by January of 2021.

Odds are drivers across New York State will be strongly opposed to this new spike in tolls, especially since these increased tolls will be mailed to you with cashless tolls...this could get ugly.
