He probably has one of the most memorable stories ever with the Buffalo Bills, but is his time with this team over?

It wasn't that long ago that many people across the country thought that Damar Hamlin's time on this earth was done.  He had effectively died in front of us and thanks to some incredible trainers on the Buffalo Bills sidelines and some amazing doctors at a hospital in Cincinnati, he was brought back to life.  He was able to walk again.  He was able to talk again.  It was incredible.

Then he decided that he was going to come back to play football again.  Plenty of people thought he was crazy, but he was able to do it.  Last year he registered his first interception in a game during the regular season.  But has he played his last play as a Buffalo Bill?

It would be easy to think that he has. He's set to become an unrestricted free agent next week, so he's free to talk with other teams to see if he can find a better deal elsewhere in the NFL. According to Adam Schefter, he's signed on with an agent to help him negotiate his next contract.

Hamlin was the starting safety on the Bills last year and will likely expect to make starting safety money.  Last year Buffalo drafted a young safety named Cole Bishop who, although green, showed some promise.  They also signed Taylor Rapp to a three year extension around this time last offseason.  It wouldn't be too much of a swing to think that the Bills will want to see some growth from Bishop and avoid having to pay the big bucks for Hamlin.

However, if Hamlin is able to test the market and finds that his best deal is here in Buffalo, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Bills sign him on the cheap.  They like him and to have a veteran who knows your system is a huge positive.

We will see how it all plays out as NFL free agency begins on Wednesday (3/12) at 4 pm.
