Is Pumpkin Pie Really Buffalo’s Favorite Thanksgiving Pie?
Thanksgiving is just days away, and if you've been asked to bring the pie to your family dinner, what kind will you be making?
A website called Zippia.com did a study by analyzing google trends to see what pies people in each state were talking about the most. They determined that that pie was the favorite in those states.
It's no surprise that pumpkin pie is a favorite on Thanksgiving. What was surprising was how big of a landslide it was. No need for a recount on this one. Pumpkin pie was a favorite in 42 states!
As a matter of fact, in this study, there were only 3 different types of pie represented in all 50 states. Pumpkin was the runaway favorite, followed by pecan pie, and apple pie making it into the top 3.
I was surprised that there weren't more fruit pies on this list. Is it because it's Thanksgiving? I mean, when you think about those Hostess pies that they sell in gas stations and grocery stores, the popular ones are cherry, apple, lemon, and chocolate. So where do those ones fall in this study?
Most Popular Thanksgiving Pies Nationally
- Sweet Potato Pie
- Cream pie
Pumpkin is the popular one in New York too. But does that represent Buffalo? And that got me thinking, a flavor that is very popular in Buffalo is loganberry. Has anyone created a loganberry pie yet? If so, where can I get it? And if not, why hasn't anyone created a loganberry pie yet?
So if you're baking the pie for Thanksgiving, do you go with the steady winner and bring pumpkin? Or do you shake things up and try something a little more out of the box?
