If you live in Western New York, be aware that these roads will be down to a single lane.

Contrary to popular belief, Buffalo and Western New York do not have four full seasons a year. They actually have two seasons: Pot hole season and construction season. OK, that's a joke, but it's one many of us make here. When the snow comes, so do potholes. When the snow leaves, construction begins. It's a never-ending cycle.

This has been one of the roughest winters we've had in many years. There's been a lot more snow, wind, ice, and cold than usual. AS road salt shortage also happened, making things extra hard on everyone. The roads have taken a beating, as have things like water lines and sewers.

As such, construction season is well underway, and we're just getting out of February. March will bring a lot more road closures and lane restrictions on side streets, major highways, and main routes. Expect delays, headaches, and eye rolls.

While major construction on Western New York roads hasn't begun yet, several projects to repair things are restricting lanes around the area, especially in a couple of South Towns. The Erie County Department of Works sent out this list of Single Lane Road Restrictions on X.

Boy, Elma has a lot of work going on, doesn't it? Then again, that's where a lot of snow and ice have landed this winter.

Now, these aren't necessarily major routes, though they aren't side streets, either. Just be aware of them if you're traveling through any of these towns and areas.
