These 5 Older Dogs Need a Forever Home at the Niagara SPCA
It's getting colder in Western New York and that means the holiday season is right around the corner. There's no better time than this time of year to help a shelter dog to find a forever home.
I've been a dog owner almost my entire life, and back in June of 2018, my fiancée and I adopted a lovable beaglebull (pitbull/beagle mix) named Odessa. She's been the best decision we have ever made and could not ask for more when it comes to a dog. She's kind, sweet, playful, and is always in a great mood. It's absolutely baffling a dog like her was at the SPCA.
Stories like Odessa are everywhere, however. Many of these dogs end up in a shelter to no fault of their own. It's even more heartbreaking when dogs who are 7-8-9 years or older are in a shelter.
These are a few dogs currently at the Niagara SPCA who are at least 8 years or older who need a forever home.
- Lexi, 8 years (Terrier, pitbull/mix)
- Siera, 10 years and 1 month (Chinese Shar-Pei/Mix)
- Ace, 10 years and 2 months (Chihuahua, Short Coat/Miniature Pinscher)
- Axel, 12 years and 2 months (Chihuahua, Short Coat/Miniature Pinscher)
- Bella, 14 years (Brittany/Spaniel)
There is also a Terrier, American Staffordshire/Mix named Rocky who is just under 7 years old.
These older dogs are passed over many times because of their age, but they deserve a forever home. It has to be terrifying for some of them to be at a shelter and it hurts to see older animals at the SPCA, although the people at the Niagara and Erie County SPCA's are amazing and help save these animals.
