The third week of the 2026 NFL Season saw the Buffalo Bills bring out their Nickel City alternate uniforms, along with them squeaking out a win against a winless Los Angeles Chargers team in a game that the hometown team did almost everything they could to lose.

With the Bills giving the ball away to the Chargers 5 times, with three fumbles and two interceptions, it seemed like the Bills offense was going out of its way to give the Chargers opportunities to put Buffalo away for good. However, the Bills defense led by Greg Rousseau and Terrel Bernard went above and beyond in limiting Los Angeles to only one touchdown and three field goals even though they had plenty of chances to score.

The first half was truly some ugly football for Bills fans as the very first play of the game was a James Cook fumble. The Chargers kept the Bills off the scoreboard in the first quarter as they jumped out to a 10-0 lead.

While the defense held the team together, it took a while for the Bills offense to wake up and the offense finally started to be able to hold on to the ball as the team was able to go into half-time tied at 10.

In the end, James Cook was able to rattle off 154 yards rushing and a big touchdown as the Bills came from behind in the fourth quarter to get their first lead of the game, which they were able to hold on to thanks to a big interception by C.J. Gardner-Johnson.

This victory in Buffalo gives the hometown team a 3-0 record this season and now the team looks forward to hosting the New England Patriots next week at Highmark Stadium on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
