A Useful List of Stores Closed on Thanksgiving
Think back to the holidays when you were a kid. For some of us, that may be a long time ago, but that's not the point. Let's get back to the memories of those magical holidays. If you were at all like me, your parents would get you dressed, load you up in the car, and then drive you to your grandparent’s house. And along the way, the world looked like a ghost town. There was NOTHING open. You would pass by stores and restaurants and none of the lights would be on. Maybe the occasional liquor store or gas station would be open. But that would be about it. Employers and business owners respected the holiday, and more importantly their employees well being and desire to spend time with their loved ones during the holidays. It was a simpler time.
But then as time went on, more and more places would start opening their doors on Thanksgiving Day to get a jump on Black Friday. First, they opened at midnight. Then it was 5 pm. Before you knew it, it seemed like some stores would be opening up at 5 am on Thanksgiving Day. I don't know about you, but I always felt bad for those that had to work on Turkey Day. Other than covering the Turkey Day shift behind the microphone a few times, I never had to work on the holiday.
Then I moved to Florida, and absolutely every store would be open on Thanksgiving. Flordia….well, Florida is just the worst.
But it seems that nowadays, more and more stores are going back to the tradition of being closed on the holiday.
Here is the list that we have so far.
