The Buffalo Sabres just finished an 11th straight season without a playoff berth. The last Sabres playoff game was in April of 2011.

Despite the fact the Sabres have not made the postseason in 11 years, Buffalo fans have more optimism than ever during that time.

Tage Thompson had a breakout season, scoring 38 goals. Rasmus Dahlin had his best season as a pro and logged number one defenseman minutes and looked great in many of the Sabres games in the 2021-2022.

Alex Tuch, Peyton Krebs, Dylan Cozens, Mattias Samuelsson and Casey Fitzgerald all impressed with the Sabres last year and that doesn’t even include the likes of JJ Peterka and Jack Quinn, who were phenomenal with the Rochester Americans.

General manager Kevyn Adams has been busy this spring, signing prospects Olivier Nadeau (F) and Aleksandr Kisakov (F). You can add yet another young prospect in the Buffalo/Rochester fold and this time, it’s a first round pick.

The Sabres announced on Tuesday they have signed 2021 first round pick, Isak Rosén to a three-year entry level contract.

Rosen was the 14th overall selection in the 2021 NHL Draft. It was the pick the Sabres acquired from the Philadelphia Flyers as part of the Rasmus Ristolainen trade.

Rosen is described as a raw forward who possess smooth skating and skilled hands. He didn’t have much production in the Swedish Hockey League, but his game should translate well to the NHL. He also is quick and has fast acceleration when skating.

Don’t look now, but the Sabres have a stacked prospect pool. They will also have three of the top 28 picks in the 2022 NHL Draft next month.
