Former Buffalo Sabres Legend Receiving Death Threats
Leaders from the Czech Republic are condemning threats that are allegedly coming from a former Russian president and prime minister.
Former Buffalo Sabres goalie and NHL great Dominik Hasek has not been quiet about his stance on the war in Ukraine. He's gone so far as to say that Russian athletes who wouldn't condemn the war should have been banned from the Paris Olympics last summer.
Dominik Hasek's comments could have gotten him in hot water
Dmitry Medvedev is now the deputy head of Russia’s Security Council. According to AP, he shared his thoughts through his assistant about Hasek. They were published by the TASS news agency and many interpreted them to be obvious threats to his life. He encouraged Hasek to "be careful while crossing roads and when having a beer in unfamiliar places."
Leaders from the Czech Republic respond
The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala responded to the threats saying that they were "unacceptable"
The translation reads:
"Dmitry Medvedev's threats against Dominik Hašek are absolutely unacceptable. However, they are not surprising from their author. However, they cannot be ignored. Medvedev is not a private person, but a high-ranking representative of Russia. Thus, he once again confirms the aggressive and dangerous nature of Russian politics."
