Longer days, warmer weather, and nostalgia. They go together like ketchup and mustard, the Bills and tailgating or wings and blue cheese. And just like summer, nostalgia will be back in full swing at Delaware Park this summer.

'The Juicery' has new owners and they're bringing back the smoothie shack, after a year of being closed. New owners Jake Caprow and Angelo Canna have put the last 12 months of quarantine and lockdown to good use, getting things in order, bringing their vision, and some of their memories, to life.

In an interview with WGRZ TV, Angelo Canna had this to say about his plan,

“Spending summers in the park as a child, running around, playing baseball, all with the anticipation that at some point we would get to stop by The Juicery are some of my fondest memories. It was an energizing jewel, a quaint little shack surrounded by the vibrant green of our beautiful Delaware Park. I set out to bring back The Juicery, the one we all remember and that’s exactly what I’m doing.”

Located at the entrance at Nottingham and Meadow Drive, they're open from dawn to dusk, seven days a week. You can expect the same kinds of offerings as far as the menu goes; pita pockets, tuna and egg salad pockets, smoothies, milkshakes, and of course ice cream.

I'd venture to say there are very few desserts as emotionally charged as ice cream. When you think of Delaware Park in the summer, it's hard not to picture crowds of people enjoying the wide-open green spaces and parents and kids alike with a summer treat in hand. You can almost picture the kids, cones in hand, racing to eat the ice cream before it melts all over their hands. While I haven't spoken with them myself, I imagine that the kind of memory both Jake Caprow and Angelo Canna have and want to recreate for others.
