What’s a Crookie and Can You Get One in Western New York?

What is a crookie?  It's one of the hottest new trends in bakeries these days, and you can find it in New York State.

Remember when the cronut was created?  It was all over the news.  People would wait for hours in line to get some for their coworkers before bakeries would sell out.  It was a combination of a cookie and a donut.

Now, someone has done it again.  This time, it's called a crookie, or as they say in France, Le Crookie.

What is a Crookie?

Just like a cronut is a combination of a croissant and a donut, a crookie is a croissant that is filled with chocolate chip cookie dough.  Although you could probably fill it with just about any kind of cookie dough, the original one was with chocolate chip. They say it came from an award-winning boulangerie called Boulangerie Louvard in Paris, France, back in 2023. You can see their post describing how to make them here (if you can translate French).

Where can you find the crookie?

TikTok got hold of the trend, and it blew up!  Now, people can't get enough of them.  The good news is that we found a place in Western New York that sells them.  If you've ever heard of "Half Baked Cookies," they make delicious cookies with very soft insides.  While strolling their website, we found that they have the crookie on their menu!  It's under the "Specialty Cookies" tab.

Now I can't wait to grab one!
