Buffalo Sabres Fans Going Crazy For This Heritage Classic Concept Jersey [PHOTO]
In case you missed the news on Thursday, the Buffalo Sabres will be officially participating in the 2022 Heritage Classic outdoor game in Hamilton, Ontario, against the Toronto Maple Leafs,
The game will take place on March 13th at 3 pm and it's the first time ever that an American-based team will be playing in the Heritage Classic, which typically involves two Canadian-based franchises playing against one another.
One of the best things about the NHL Heritage and Winter Classic games are the phenomenal jerseys that the teams wear. Typically, there's a throwback feel to the sweaters and some infusion of the new with the old. It really gives these games an added aesthetic.
The website BarDown in Canada (a part of TSN) shared a Sabres concept jersey for the Heritage Classic, and Sabres fans are going crazy for it.
The jerseys are essentially the same logo and stripes as the black and red jerseys the Sabres wore in the late 90s and mid-2000s but traded out the colours for blue and gold.
To be clear, these are just concept jerseys, so it's just an idea thrown out there to gauge interest. This does not mean these will be the jerseys they wear on March 13th.
Personally, I love these; but I grew up watching the Sabres during the black and red era, so I may be a bit biased. I love the current blue and gold jerseys, so it's a cool match for both jerseys.
My dad hated the black and red, "goat head" jerseys and many people feel similarly. It's getting both love and distaste on Twitter.
It kind of reminds me of back when the Sabres switched to the blue and gold, "slug" jerseys in the summer of 2006 but we didn't know what the new jersey look would be, so concept jerseys were released and they looked similar to this.
I'd be fine with these becoming a "thing" one day.
