Former Bills Player Jim Leonhard May Become Next Defensive Coordinator
Now that the Buffalo Bills have hired their new Head Coach and are preparing for the 2026/27 NFL season, the leadership at One Bills Drive is now able to turn its attention to rounding out the staff for Joe Brady.
With Brady, who was the team's Offensive Coordinator, moving to the top job, there will need to be someone brought on to help him run the offense. Plus, with the defensive-minded Sean McDermott now gone from Buffalo, the team will need a hard-nosed defensive mind to help keep the team's defense in tip-top shape.
With all of the potential candidates that exist in the league, there is one coach in particular who knows Buffalo well and may be on the agenda for Brady and Brandon Beane to bring on board.

Jim Leonhard, who got his start in the NFL as an underrated free agent with the Buffalo Bills as a Free Safety, has quickly risen in the coaching ranks as one of the best young minds in defense. After spending several years coaching at his alma mater, Wisconsin, and the last couple of years as the DB coach in Denver, many around Buffalo are trying to coax Leonhard to come back to the 716.
Leonhard, who had two stints with the Bills in 2005 through 2007 and 2013, made a name for himself over 10 seasons in the NFL as a quality player with an amazing mind for football.
Hopefully, Beane and Brady can convince him to come back to Buffalo.
