Over the past six seasons, there's no doubt that the face of the Buffalo Sabres franchise has been captain Jack Eichel.

Selected at number two overall in the 2015 NHL Draft, Eichel has been the team leader in points since then and is considered one of the best 5-10 players in the entire league. However, it's no secret the Sabres have been bad over the last decade and it appears an unhappy Jack Eichel is about to leave the City of Buffalo for good.

According to Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic, trade discussions are getting much more serious lately and while there's no set timetable for a trade of the Sabres superstar, LeBrun says he expects Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams wants a first-round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft as part of a package in return, so that means there's roughly one month to get an Eichel trade done.

The first round of the 2021 NHL Draft is on July 23rd, and the Sabres hold the number one overall pick. Another first-round pick this year, plus a young and potential star player would be a package most Sabres fans are likely looking for and certainly, the Sabres need a trade package that includes both of those things.

Eichel and the Sabres appear to be past the point of no return, and while draft picks are great, the Sabres absolutely need actual players in this trade coming to Buffalo. Eichel is one of the five best players in hockey and Adams has to get this trade right or it could spell even more disaster for Buffalo and this franchise.
